BMW 507
In this weeks SPOTLIGHT, you are looking at the BMW 507; one of the sexiest things to come out of Germany since Diane Kruger. Alright, it’s true this car came way before Ms. Kruger was even born, but the 507 is still an absolute stunner. Conceived by Max Hoffman in 1954, the first car rolled off the assembly line from Milbertshofen in 1956 worth an eye-watering $10,500, which in the same year cost more than the average house. Staggeringly, the cost to make these beauties was almost twice this, resulting in a huge loss of sales from BMW. Eventually, the car almost ended up bankrupting BMW, costing them over 15 million DM (which today equates to almost $40 million). The legacy of the BMW 507, however, lived on. Elvis Presley owned one these cars, which is now on display in BMW's own museum in Munich, Germany.
